Effect of furrow irrigation systems and irrigation levels on maize agronomy and water use efficiency in Arba Minch, Southern, Ethiopia

Improved irrigation water management is the main strategy to improve use efficiency in areas with limited resources. Optimizing scarce by selecting suitable furrow systems arid and semi-arid parts of Ethiopia rarely practiced. A field experiment was carried out evaluate effect conventional, alternate, fixed three levels (100%ETc, 75%ETc, 50%ETc) on maize agronomy Arba Minch, Southern, Ethiopia. The experimental study had nine treatments under a randomized complete block design replications. Furrow system deficit significant impact (P < 0.01) agronomy, grain yield, efficiency. maximum yield 7.99 ton ha−1 obtained conventional at 100%ETc significantly higher than other minimum 4.24 50%ETc inferior as compared treatments. values crop, field, expense efficiencies were 2.49, 2.80, 1.72 kg m−3 50%ETc, respectively. 1.47, 1.28, 1.05 100%ETc, can increase 0.64 ha net additional irrigable land pre each hectare 100%ETc. Water saving up solve shortage problem improving insignificant reduction.
